8.2 Expert Office Blum e.K. specializes in the technical inspection and assessment of onshore wind turbines. Located in Rennerod in northern Rhineland-Palatinate, centrally situated between Cologne and Frankfurt am Main, assignments are flexibly carried out throughout Germany.
Key Services
Periodic inspections (WKP), condition-based inspections (ZOP), as well as acceptance tests after commissioning (IBN) and conformity assessments. In the area of damage assessment, the focus is on mechanical components, especially gearboxes, main bearings, and large slewing bearings.
A particular area of expertise is gearbox endoscopy with a 3.9 mm probe for targeted visual inspection of bearings and gear teeth for sound condition assessment, as well as for identifying operational development trends. Additionally, further drivetrain investigations can be carried out, including vibration measurements, thermography, and grease and oil analyses.
Highlight Project: Condition-based inspections (ZOP), Dorper Wind Farm, South Africa
On behalf of the operator, Marco Blum, together with three other 8.2 offices, carried out condition-based inspections on 40 Nordex N100 2.5 MW wind turbines at the end of the maintenance contract. The scope of inspection included foundation, tower and nacelle, rotor blade inspection including lightning protection measurement, gearbox endoscopy, vibration measurement, oil analysis, and earthing measurement. The project was completed within a few weeks.
